Salesforce + Contio Integration

This article describes how the Salesforce + Contio integration works, including how to set it up, and how easy it is to update your CRM in a click.

What does the Salesforce integration do?

Contio and Salesforce share information both ways, informing every stage of your meeting — before, during, and after. Before a meeting, Contio reads Salesforce and pulls an account's context (related Contacts, open Opportunities, recent Cases and activity) into your prep. During the meeting, you can ask Contio a question and it surfaces the right Salesforce details on the spot. After the meeting, Contio drafts the summary and follow-up tasks from what was said and logs them to the right record (an Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity, Task or Case). You review and send in a click. Your CRM stays current, and you walk in prepared, without the manual work.

Can Contio pull Salesforce context into my meeting prep?

Yes. Before a meeting, just ask and Contio can pull in relevant details from Salesforce and bring its context into your prep. Contio can create detailed meeting agendas, complete with talking points, and Canvases (drafts of documents Contio creates, such as a client proposal) with details from Salesforce. You walk in with the full picture instead of click-click-clicking through Salesforce to find what you're looking for.

Can I search my Salesforce records from Contio?

Yes. Type a question into the "Ask Contio anything…" field to start a chat, then ask Contio to fetch what you need from Salesforce. It can find any Account, Contact, Opportunity, Case, or Lead by name or by criteria, and pull the details into Contio to inform your next meeting, an agenda you're building, or a Canvas you're working on.

How do I connect Salesforce to Contio?

In Contio, go to Settings → Integrations → Salesforce and connect your Salesforce org. You'll be asked to authorize the connection with Salesforce, then you're set.

How do I log a meeting to Salesforce?

  1. Create a Next Step for adding an update to Salesforce. The prompt is yours to customize, so Contio drafts the activity the way you want — or use one your team has already set up.

  2. After your meeting, run that Next Step.

  3. Contio drafts the activity from the conversation. Review and refine it in the Next Steps modal.

  4. Send — the activity is written to the right Salesforce record.

Which Salesforce records can Contio log to?

Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Leads, Tasks and Cases. The activity lands on the correct record, related to everything around it.

How does Contio know which record to use?

In the Next Step, you pick the type of record to attach the update to — Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity, Task or Case — and then select the specific record. Contio logs the activity to that record.

Can I review and edit what gets sent before it's logged?

Yes. Contio drafts the activity, and you review and refine it in the modal before anything is sent — including plain-language edits like "make it shorter" or "add owners." Nothing is logged to Salesforce until you send it.

Is the logging automatic?

No. Contio drafts the activity for you, but you choose to run the Next Step, review the draft, and send it. You're always in control of what gets written to Salesforce.

Does Contio read my Salesforce data, or only write to it?

Both — the integration works in both directions. Contio can read your Salesforce records (Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Cases, Events, and Tasks) and create or update them. In practice, Contio can pull an account's context into your meeting prep, search your Salesforce records, log the meeting back to the right record, and create follow-ups — all without leaving Contio.

The activity Contio drafted wasn't perfect — should I check it before sending?

Yes, always give it a quick review. Contio uses AI to draft summaries and activities, and AI can make mistakes, so review every draft before sending it to Salesforce.

Which plans include the Salesforce integration?

It's available on the Pro, Elite and Enterprise plans. It isn't included on the Free plan.

I'm having trouble connecting Salesforce. What should I do?

First, make sure you have permission to connect apps to your Salesforce org (some orgs restrict this to admins). Try disconnecting and reconnecting under Settings → Integrations → Salesforce. If it still doesn't work, reply here and we'll help.
