What is a Canvas?

Learn about Canvases in MeetingOS, including how they work and what the benefits are.

What is a Canvas?

A Canvas is a smart, AI-powered document inside MeetingOS. Unlike a blank document, a Canvas can open with the first draft already written: Contio AI turns what was said in your meetings — plus any email, document, or context you've connected — into the plan, the proposal, or the recap that comes next. You edit it, then save or send it. You'll find Canvases in the left nav (the memo-pad icon), alongside Meetings.

Where do I find Canvases?

In the left navigation, click Canvases (memo-pad icon). It's on by default — there's nothing to set up.

How do I create a Canvas?

Two ways:

  1. From a Next Step (the quickest): When a meeting wraps, trigger a Next Step. Contio AI drafts a Canvas from what was discussed, and it opens pre-filled and ready to edit. There's also a "Save to Canvas" button on Next Steps.

  2. Fresh: Open Canvases in the left nav and create a new one. Write directly, paste content (including Markdown, which auto-converts to formatted text), or ask Contio AI to draft from any of your meetings.

What can Contio AI do in a Canvas?

Contio AI can write the first draft from your meeting, and rewrite or reorganize any section on request. It can also search across your workspace — every meeting, every Canvas, and any document, email, or context you've shared — by keyword or by meaning.

What is the Context Drawer?

The Context Drawer is where you control what Contio AI can draw on for a Canvas. You can talk it through with Contio AI, upload documents (including from cloud storage), add links, or connect other meetings and Canvases. Contio AI reads what you add and works it into the draft.

Where do I find the Context Drawer?

Click the Context button (the paperclip icon) from any draft or scheduled meeting, or from a Canvas. That opens the Context Drawer, where you can add documents, links, and other meetings or Canvases for Contio AI to use.

Can I collaborate with my team?

Yes. Multiple people can work in the same Canvas at once. When Contio AI is reworking a section, a brief lock appears so edits don't collide.

How do I save or share a Canvas?

When your draft is ready, you can save it as a Google Doc (coming soon), a Microsoft Word file, or Markdown, or send it as an email.

What plan do I need? Is it free?

Every plan, including Free, can create and edit Canvases by hand. AI-powered Canvases — where Contio AI writes the first draft and rewrites sections for you — are included in the Pro, Elite, and Enterprise plans. New signups get a 21-day Elite trial with full access, then move to manual-only Canvases on Free if they don't upgrade.

Is my data private?

Yes. MeetingOS works without a bot joining your meeting and without recording audio. AI processing happens in Contio's secure private cloud, and your data is never used to train AI models.
